Walter Nicolino (born 1975), former partner and external consultant of the firm Carlo Ratti Associati, graduated from the Politecnico di Torino with an urban design project awarded Honourable Mention in the Archiprix 2003 – World’s Best Graduation Projects.
Often invited as visiting lecturer to numerous University and cultural institutions, Walter is currently teaching as adjunct professor at the Architecture Department of the University of Ferrara, where he is coordinating, together with Gabriele Lelli and Gianluca Cristoforetti, the multidisciplinary research group Next City Lab.
Among various international projects, Walter Nicolino, as member of Carlo Ratti Associati team, in the 2008 completed the Digital Water Pavilion in Zaragoza, Spain, chosen by TIME Magazine as one of the Best Inventions of 2007 and awarded Second Prize in the first edition of the Renzo Piano Foundation Award in 2011. The firm’s works have been featured in numerous exhibitions, including the Venice Architecture Biennale 2004, 2006, 2010 editions.
Walter Nicolino is practicing in Turin as OAT member in the fields of architecture and urban planning.
He is a counselor member of the cultural association OII+, that promotes architecture through events; publications; lectures and workshops.
Since October 2014 Walter Nicolino is part of the TerreComuni scientific advisory board, think tank group with the aim to promote innovative projects in the Southern Tuscany area.
