The Architecture Faculty of Ferrara and the md Material Design research centre, which works within it, constitutes a significant pattern of the SITdA (Italian Society of Architecture Technology). The scientific society reunites, through a vast and inclusive system, about 300 university professors and PhDs in the disciplinary area of Architecture Technology from 23 Italian Architecture or Engineering Faculties, together committed in an articulated mission the main 10 strategic points of which are as follows:

- connect Universities, professors, institutions;

- enact politics of high-profile researches;

- consolidate an internationalization culture;

- disseminate the research activities;

- promote a multi- and trans-disciplinary approach towards technology;

- contribute to legislation;

- assist Institutions in checking and evaluating the quality of buildings;

- cooperate with the national education system;

- function as a cultural point of reference;

- valorize high quality results.

SITdA is a Network of intellectual skills aimed to catch the specific aspect of a historical moment that needs to find renovated confidence in research and knowledge processes; this network wants to maintain a contact with the public or private commissioners and with the productive organizations, engaging to actively and synergistically interact with them.

The Network is already operative in the development of the following projects:

- stimulation of debates with Ministries, Regional administrations, public and private Institutions, companies and industrial associations about the most challenging goals linked to the sector of constructions, infrastructures and environment;

- development of the tecnologi.net website as institutional communication channel of the SITdA;

creation of a new scientific publication in the domain of technological innovation for the built spaces.
