Edra was founded in 1987, in Tuscany, a land rich in history, culture, art and productive wisdom. Its name comes from the Greek word “esedra” – philosophical place of conversation and encounters. Edra brings forth innovative projects, born from an original union between tradition and innovation, state of the art technology, manual craftsmanship, continuous research for new forms, high performance, and new materials.
According to Matteo Thun (Bolzano, Italy, 1952) the historical memory and the cultural values which belong to a specific location are an extraordinary heritage, as well as an endless stimulus for architecture. With this in mind, his work displays all the fascination which has sprung from a critical re-interpretation of such context; a context which harmoniously coexists with an endless innovative characteristic. Such a characteristic seeks to enhance environmental sustainability, energy saving, cost control, and production times but without having to give up on refined aesthetic research.
The value of the cultural initiative of XfafX is connected to the status of the Ferrara Architecture Faculty, to the presence of representative figures of the academic world, to the fame and reputation of the speakers invited to develop the Lectio Magistralis, to the intrinsic nature of uniqueness and emotionality of the events, to the innovation of the institutional Communicative Plan.
